Grafitti in Phoenix, Arizona.
When the light is perfect and the composition is effortless.
Long Island, New York.
Desert Botanical Garden Sunset Walk
Torrey Pines Park, just outside of La Jolla, CA.
This is the power of a 48 MP image with Leica glass. This is highly cropped from a larger image. The entire image is great, but this is a picture inside a picture, essentially.
Taken with the iPhone 13 mini. The view from my balcony. This chapter at the Optima, one year from when I moved here, is about to close.
While this is my sons primary vehicle now (lucky duck), I do get to drive it from time to time. I have loved putting this together. So many details to make this just a little different than every other “lifted” Jeep on the road.
Random coffee shop find in central London. Coffee culture in London is strong and there are artisan shops seemingly around every corner.
Streets of London by Oxford Circus
Most of my photos in the B&W section will be captured with my Leica Q2 Monochrom. This one, for obvious reasons was not. Captured with my iPhone 13 Mini. Edited with Lightroom. Portrait mode, so much of the depth of field is computational in nature and no lens distortion. Still, the clarity and detail that comes out of the iPhone camera system is impressive. The light here is absolutely spot and dialed (fully natural).
April 2022 - A trip down Beale Street in Memphis. Street photography is a growing interest to me as a genre. This picture captures so much. It’s really stunning when seen in full size. Definitely print worthy.
This band was an amazing rock cover band. You run into a lot of blues, jazz and country in Memphis, but these guys were rocking out to Journey, Van Halen & Phil Collins. One of my favorite shots from the trip.
The Leica Q2 Monochrom is a 48 MP camera. Having that much resolution allows for amazing flexibility when cropping. Nearly as good as having a zoom lens. I took several shots of Seth this day, but this one captures him in a way I find inspriational.
I have more to say about this day. But to speak to this photograph, you might not think it’s a B&W shot. It is. I did some post tonal and tint work on it, but that’s it. Having a car in a studio setting with this kind of lighting made this shot somewhat magical. The vertical tube lighting, the natural light coming in from the glass garage door — it all just works so well.
Palm Springs - This shot was taken at sunrise and just a lovely reflection from the glass. I added a little bit of tonal correction so it might not appear B&W but this is in deed a B&W shot.
If it were not for the Tesla in this shot, you might think this is a vintage photo of downtown Telluride. Adding some grain and a little more contrast gives this photo a distinct mood.
“The 2nd Best Coffee Shop in the Southwest”… Found this little gem in Cortez, CO on our way to Telluride.
Location shoot with my mom and my kids. DC Ranch Marketplace.
Eve has her own interest in photography. She has a Fuji Film X100v. We went out on a desert shoot and I managed to capture this one. Probably my 2nd favorite shot of Eve in the recent past.
Coffee - This shot taken at William Douglas’ shop. It’s not perfectly in focus, but there is still an organic element to this shot.
More Central Phoenix goodness. Light & contrast.
Horseshoe Bend, near Paige, Arizona. I wish I had enough time here to do a time lapse.
There a lot of photos from this trip that are meaningful. This one was one just captured the mood so well.
